A2O CYCLY TRAIL

1 minutes drive. 1.5 km

Two Whales is on the way of the Alps to Ocean cycle trail. Relax here if you are doing multi day cycling. Or simply hire bikes from Twizel and enjoy the easy ride along the  canal.

LAKE OHAU

10 minutes drive. 10 km

Follow the Glen Lyon road to the bottom of the Lake Ohau. You will  find it's interesting if you are into photography. Alternatively, follow the main highway to south to the Lake Ohau village, where has more walking tracks and a charming ski field.

Lake Pukaki

15 minutes drive. 20 km

As one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, it's unreal blue and just so stunning. The colour is from the “glacier flour” which is the extremely fine rock particles that get transported from the glaciers. The popular carpark lookout is on the SH8 which is 15 minutes from Two Whales. However, there are many quiet photo spots along the lake shore wait for your exploring. Why not talk to us?

LAKE TEKAPO

45 minutes drive. 65 km

Milky-turquoise colour of Lake Tekapo is the must visit of the region.  Have a coffee at the top of Mt John and enjoy the view. Soak in the hot pools. Take a star gazing Tour. Cycling or mountain biking upon your choices. Our secret spot is Lake Alexandrina nearby, you may see black swans there.

AORAKI/MT COOK

50 minutes drive. 75 km

Twizel is the nearest town of the Aoraki Mt Cook National Park. Enjoy the convivence of the town and do a day trip in Aoraki Mt Cook.

CLAY CLIFFS

40 minutes drive. 48 km

The Clay Cliffs are a geological wonder; ‘bad land’ sharp pinnacles and ridges separated by steep and narrow ravines. The Cliffs were created out of layers of silt and gravel deposited by ancient lakes and rivers around 20 million years ago. The cliffs are on private land and there is an honesty box at the gate where you are asked to pay $5 per car.

SALMON FARM

13 minutes drive. 15 km

High Country Salmon farm is not far away. Feed the salmon and grad a lunch there. Fresh and frozen salmon available if you like yummy salmon. Another salmon shop Mt Cook Alpine is at the Lake Pukaki Carpark, on the way north.
